On September 25th, for the Cultural Week edition of Fundación Universitaria Juan N. Corpas, known as Semana de puertas abiertas, a kermesse focused on BeGlobal was held, offering an intercultural and international environment to the Corpista community. The event included four stations with various activities and a conversatory on international experiences, with guests invited by the Global Initiatives department. The event focused on interculturalism and global citizenship, incorporating a social inclusion component.
Activities during the day:
International and famous pop culture characters charades: Two groups competed in a game of charades about famous characters, followed by questions on international culture and recognition of flags of various countries
Balloon dart toss: Balloons were set at different heights with images of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants answered questions related to the SDG corresponding to the balloon they popped.
21” soccer activity inspired by Brazil: Participants tried to keep the ball in the air by performing several repetitions, in a game known as ‘21’. They could add more repetitions by saying correct sentences in Portuguese or animal names in English, adding a bilingualism component, essential for being a Global Citizen.
Potatoe sack race BeGlobal: Two groups of five people participated in a sack race. Each group carried a piece of paper with fragments of a sentence that the group leader had to organize at the end of the activity. The sentences were related to concepts such as Serious Games, Internationalization and Global Citizen.
Conversatory: After the Kermes activities, an interview-type conversation was held with guests invited by Global Initiatives, such as the Language Assistant Rowan Taylor, who shared their international experiences. Concepts of BeGlobal such as Global Citizen, Internationalization and Higher Education were discussed, which allowed promoting the BeGlobal project and giving it greater visibility, encouraging participation in mobility, internationalization and bilingualism activities.
Approximately 165 students from Nursing, Music and, mostly, Medicine participated in the event. The first three winners during the kermesse were awarded with multiple gifts. Afterwards, there was a closing ceremony with thanks for the attendance and the event was finished with live music.
