BeGlobal Helsinki Training Week
The representatives of the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) participating in the BeGlobal project, originating from Chile, France, Finland, and Colombia, have met in person on two occasions. The first meeting took place in March 2024 at the Talca campus of the Universidad Católica del Maule, Chile. During this initial meeting, the project was launched, planning activities were undertaken, training was conducted, and each institution presented their progress on the assigned work packages. Subsequently, from November 12th to 15th, 2024, the BeGlobal team, together with students and teachers from their HEIs, gathered at Haaga-Helia University, Finland. At this event, various training sessions focused on teaching Global Citizenship and the use of gamification as an educational tool were conducted.
The November meeting in Finland allowed the consolidation of the progress made since the first meeting in Chile. In the interim, Haaga-Helia University provided training on the project’s pedagogical framework and preparation for gamification training oriented towards global competencies. Through methods such as role-playing, challenge-based learning, game design focused on pedagogy, and instructional design principles, the Haaga-Helia team, led by Sini Bask, emphasized the importance of these sessions in enriching the teaching and learning of Global Citizenship.
Additionally, synchronous and asynchronous online sessions assisted by technology were conducted, with the participation of trainers and students, ensuring that the acquired knowledge was shared transversally among the participating institutions.
These two in-person meetings, in Chile and Helsinki, support the advancement of the BeGlobal project in the areas of «Global Citizenship» and «Internationalization for Society» using innovative pedagogical approaches and educational gamification tools, with a special emphasis on the «serious games» methodology. We will meet again at the Université Côte d’Azur, France, in 2025!
